It has been a little over a year since our last adventure to Europe. As soon as we got home we started planning for this year's adventure and boy is it a doozy and we won't be alone! Our partners in this adventure are going to be our good friends Bob & Joyce Childre (aka Riff & Raff), who are driving their motorhome from their home in FL and will join us in AZ in about 2 weeks. From here w...
Our Travel Adventures - Cruising Fulltime
A couple years ago, we drastically changed our travel plans and traveling style. After traveling full time for 16 years, we sold our beloved 40' Tiffin Phaeton diesel motor home. We (again) purchased a traditional "sticks and bricks" house. There are several reasons why we made this huge change in our lifestyle. It was a change we had been talking about for a while and the timing wa...
I don't know why it took me so long to write this up, but Connie and I spent a week in Panama last December. Panama is a country on the isthmus linking Central and South America. The Panama Canal, a famous feat of human engineering, cuts through its center, linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create an essential shipping route. We flew into Panama City and stayed at an "all-inclusive" ...
September 9th, 2021 We had a couple days to make it to Paris for our flight back to the USA. We stopped at another French aire, this one in Long, France. This aire was located across the street from the Municipal Campground, which isn't for motorhomes. The aire cost €10.40 ($12.48 US) for the night. Electric was another €2 ($2.40 US) for 12 hours. It was quiet and worked fine for ...
September 7th & 8th, 2021 We spent the last couple of days in Dunkirk, France. Dunkirk's name was sadly marked in history during World War II. The Dunkirk evacuation, codenamed Operation Dynamo and also known as the Miracle of Dunkirk, or just Dunkirk, was the evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, in the north of France, ...
September 5th & 6th, 2021 Thanks to everyone who answered our shout out on Facebook on where to go before we have to be in Paris. Bruges (Brugge) Belgium is the destination most of you said we shouldn't miss. I have to say, I think this was my favorite city on this trip, or reading the title of this blog, is it the foodie in me that says it's my favorite? We found a nice camping spo...
September 3rd, 2021 Since we planned to slow down and enjoy the small country towns, our next stop was in Roosdaal, Belgium. We planned to spend a couple nights in one small town, then travel to the next stop. After a few stops like this, we'd be back in Paris. Our stop in Roosdaal was at the town's sports field. There was a free motorhome parking area, that included free electric, water and...
Next Saturday, we can't return the motorhome until 8:00AM and our flight leaves at 11:30AM. That only gives us 3 hours to return the rental (with inspection), get a taxi to the airport, check-in and go through security. I don't like taking chances with timing when flying. We've booked a hotel ($63 US) near the airport and near the rental return location for the night befor...
Sorry I haven't updated this blog lately, but we had terrible Internet service and no electricity for several days. Let's get caught up. Better late than never... We couldn't believe how many semi-trucks were going into Poland from Germany. August 27th After spending one night in Poland, we headed back to Germany. After only a couple hours of driving we stopped at the Wo...
No wrong turn - a trip to Poland was a last minute decision. One of the nice things of traveling by motorhome is the freedom to change plans on a whim. But I'm getting ahead of myself. August 25th Today was mainly a down day, catching up on computer issues, editing photos, and updating this blog. We rewarded ourselves with a nice evening out. We drove not far from the campground to a Cr...
