I've really been a slacker! I haven't kept this Blog current, mainly since everyone is using Facebook now. But this Blog isn't just for you, it's for us also. We use this Blog as a record of our travels that we look back on.
I thought I'd try to catch up on what we've been doing this past year. I also need to get back into the routine of updating this Blog with our travels, as we have a couple more "Epic" trips planned for 2025. So let's get started.
Back in March of this year, we did a week's cruise from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to San Diego, CA via the Panama Canal. We traveled with 4 of our neighbors - Randy and Patty Edwards and Steve and Debbie Hinds. For the first time, we tried the Holland America Cruise line. This cruise had stops in Columbia, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Shortly after starting the cruise, we got word that Connie's Mother had taken a bad fall and was in a neck brace. She was going to need someone to stay with her for home care. After our cruise, we drove to Torrance, CA. Connie stayed to take care of her mom, while I drove back home to Prescott, AZ Besides getting Connie more clothes and medication, we had ordered a new Ford Maverick hybrid truck. This small truck can be flat towed with our 25' Unity motorhome. After waiting 5 weeks, the truck was ready for pick-up.
Connie ended up staying with her mom for 3 months. In early June, she took a break and flew home to Prescott, AZ. We packed up the motorhome and headed to Renton, WA. Our youngest daughter Cynthia joined us on the drive to Washington. We visited with our eldest daughter, Leslie, and attended the high school graduation of granddaughter Kaylee. After a week in Washington, Connie and Cindy flew back to Torrance, California. Connie stayed with her mom some more, and Cindy met her husband Matt for a weekend stay before driving back to Arizona.
During this time, I spent the next two weeks driving by myself in the motorhome to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. On June 30th, Connie flew to Halifax and joined me for our 3-month RV trip in the Canadian Maritimes. (More on this trip later).
Here's a couple posting on Facebook that Connie made during these times:
Mar 14: Off for another adventure! Holland America Cruise through the Panama Canal! We fly out to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow morning and embark the ship on Saturday. We disembark in San Diego. We'll drive over to my mom's and spend Easter and the week with her. It's suppose to snow tonight and tomorrow here in Prescott. It can snow all it wants, as long as it's all gone by the time we get back, lol.
Mar 21: Yesterday was spent going through the Panama Canal. It rained off & on all day and it was very humid.
April 4: I can't wait to see our new ride! I'm in CA taking care of my mother. She had a fall on St Patrick's Day, 2 days after we started our Panama Canal Cruise. Thank God for my brother Brian and his family to be here to take care of her until we could arrive! I say this because they have work and school they had to rearrange so someone was always here, whereas Larry & I do not. We came to Torrance after we got off the ship in San Diego last Saturday 3/30. Larry left to go home as I was going to need some different clothes, more medications, taxes needed to be done, and our 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid was ready to be picked up! This vehicle can be flat towed behind our LTV Unity MH. Mom is doing better. Her cuts and bruises are healing nicely though she has to wear a neck brace for at least 3 more weeks. She sees a Neurosurgeon on May 6th, so we'll see what he says then.
June 11: We made it to Leslie's house in Renton WA yesterday afternoon, yea! Kaylee loved the sloth I made for her. The college she'll be attending in the fall, Williamette University Pacific Northwest College of Art's mascot is the Sloth with one sports team, kickball.
June 14: Washington trip is a wrap. It was fun seeing family and going to my niece Kaylee's high school graduation.
We enjoyed our Panama Canal cruise with friends. You'll need to wait for the next Blog entry to read about our 3-month motorhome trip to the Canadian Maritimes. We visited the Canadian Provence's of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Yes, I know these are not all part of the Maritimes. I'll explain in the next Blog.
We also have a couple epic trips planned for 2025. A 3-month motorhome trip to Cabo San Lucas, then on to Mazatlán in Mexico. In the Fall of 2025, it's a 3-week rental motorhome trip in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, then a 3-week Mediterranean cruise from Spain to Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Montenegro. Lots to write about in the coming year!
