A couple years ago, we drastically changed our travel plans and traveling style. After traveling full time for 16 years, we sold our beloved 40' Tiffin Phaeton diesel motor home. We (again) purchased a traditional "sticks and bricks" house. There are several reasons why we made this huge change in our lifestyle. It was a change we had been talking about for a while and the timing was right. COVID and family issues helped "push" us into this decision.
While I greatly enjoy having a traditional home again, it's also been difficult for me. I miss our home on wheels and our constant adventure on the road. To help ease into this change, we made a couple other decisions regarding our travels.
- As you've probably noticed in our blog entries for the past couple of years, we've been doing more traditional travel by plane and cruise ships.
2021 found us spending a month in Europe. We traveled by a rented motor home to France, Germany, Poland, Netherlands and Belgium.
2021 was a week's trip to Panama and the Panama Canal.
2022 is also the year of our upcoming "Epic Adventure 2022". We're about to head off on a two-month cruise and self-drive trip to New Zealand. This trip is also slightly different, as we'll be staying in hotels while in New Zealand. Check our travel log often, as we'll keep it updated as we progress on this adventure.
2023 is being planned for our "Epic Adventure 2023". While still being planned, this will involve a 2-week cruise from England to Ireland, Iceland, and Greenland. Then we'll travel around England, Wales, and Scotland by a rented camper van for another 30 days. We intend to record our travels in this travel log. - To help satisfy my desire for local adventures, we purchased a 17' Camping Trailer. We purchased a 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE trailer. The 17' of living space is plenty for us to "get away" for short trips around the USA. I plan to write a detailed blog entry with photos of our new trailer. We've named her "Miki", since she is an "MKE" model.
